Understanding Baptism
What Is Baptism?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It is a public declaration that you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ — that you have died to your old life and been raised to walk in newness of life.
At The Well, we practice believer's baptism by immersion. This means baptism follows a personal decision to follow Jesus, and the act of going under the water and rising again pictures the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

Why Get Baptized?
Jesus commanded it
In Matthew 28:19, Jesus instructed his followers to make disciples and baptize them. Baptism is an act of obedience to Christ.
It's a public declaration
Baptism is your opportunity to publicly declare your faith in Jesus before your church family, friends, and community.

Going under the water represents dying to sin; rising up represents new life in Christ. Baptism is the gospel in action.
